When you were a kid did you want to be a scientist? Here’s your chance to make your dreams come true!
Be a Citizen Scientist as part of the annual Great Backyard Bird Count on February 12-15. Simply count birds in your yard, a park, or any other place, for a minimum of 15 minutes and report them. You can even count at the same place all four days. You can contribute to the science and have fun at the same time.
Not a great birder? No worries! They’re not just looking for experts. Every bit of data collected is useful. One field guide that we highly recommend is Birds of the Carolinas. It’s got a great color-coded index and very helpful tips on identifying birds and how to distinguish between birds that look similar to one another.
